2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country

We're continuing TestDrive's coverage of 2019 light duty pickup trucks with GM's newest offering, the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country.

This episode of TestDrive Spotlight goes in-depth on the all-new fourth generation GM pickup truck. We spend some time talking about what's new for the Chevy Silverado, including the $77,990 CAD price point, new front end look with reflector LED headlights, LED fog lights, parking sensors, HD SurroundVision camera system, video rearview camera, remote start, keyless entry, fixed running board, automatic up and down tailgate, and the 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine that produces 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

We jump on the inside to talk about some of the design elements and features found on the Silverado High Country, including the 15" colour Head-Up Display or HUD, 8" colour multi-information display, 8" colour navigation system with SiriusXM Radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and 4G LTE data. We go over the heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, dual zone automatic climate control, power moonroof, as well as some of the features in the back that are new for 2019 including the heated outboard seats, USB and USB Type-C charging, centre airflow vents, under-seat storage, and in-seat storage.

We also take the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado High Country on a winter road test to talk about the 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine's performance and cylinder deactivation technology, along with the 10-Speed Ford/GM automatic transmission. The rest of our full tour and review of the 2019 Chevy Silverado talks about what we found during our week with this light duty full size pickup truck, and what buyers can expect if they're in the market for a new top end truck.
