2020 Genesis G90 5.0 Prestige AWD Review

Luxury has a new name. Genesis has updated their flagship full-size luxury sedan for 2020 with the G90 5.0 Prestige AWD and we're going in-depth with our review.

We've been very excited to get behind the wheel of the 2020 Genesis G90 5.0 Prestige AWD since it was first shown off at the 2019 Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Ontario. The 2020 G90 is a refresh for the first generation full-size luxury sedan, mostly focusing on a new exterior design language for the brand. A new quad-LED headlight system surrounds the new badge-inspired grille, along with continuous flowing design elements that run along the exterior of the vehicle.

Our full tour and review of the 2020 Genesis G90 5.0 Prestige goes over all the exterior changes from the original G90 introduced a few years ago, including all the technology and features found on this flagship sedan. We discuss how Genesis designers came up with this vehicle's bold new look, and what trims and configurations are available for Canadian and US buyers.

We discuss some of the other features of the exterior that are important to buyers such as the safety tech, soft-close doors, welcome lighting, LED exterior lighting, automatic power folding mirrors, 19" G-Matrix alloys, and the Hankook Winter i*cept evo2 tires.

We jump on the inside of the 2020 G90 Prestige to talk about the small changes found for 2020, along with the rest of the interior features such as the sunroof, leather seating with heat and ventilation, rear seat functions, infotainment system, colour head-up display, 19-speaker Lexicon audio system, 360º cameras, and tri-zone automatic climate control. The interior design hasn't changed much for 2020, but we discuss how the interior differs from vehicles like the Lincoln Continental Reserve and Cadillac CT6 Platinum that we drove previously.

We get chauffeured in the back seat of the 2020 Genesis G90 AWD to talk about some of the mechanical differences with this Genesis over the Lincoln and Cadillac, and how the rear seats are from a comfort and space perspective while being driven around Québec.

TestDrive jumps into the driver's seat of the Genesis G90 to talk about how the 5.0L naturally aspirated V8 engine performs along with the 8-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive system, and the 5-link Genesis Adaptive Control Suspension.

We do a quick 0-100km launch and go over our overall driving impressions of this vehicle. We briefly discuss our experience with this vehicle on the snow, as the winter tires change our opinion slightly about this vehicle's handling. We wrap up our full tour and review of the G90 with our final fuel economy testing, along what we ultimately liked and disliked about this vehicle.

We finish with the ownership advantages to buying a Genesis over the direct competition, and what we hope to see from future Genesis vehicles like the new GV80 SUV and G80.
