2020 Chrysler 300 Limited AWD Full Tour & Review

How long can you sell the same car before people realize it's not new anymore? That's the story of the Chrysler 300, a car that has remained on the same platform since 2011, and essentially unchanged since 2015.

This week's episode of TestDrive Spotlight is on the 2020 Chrysler 300 Limited AWD. Yes, that's correct, this is a 2020 model year for a car that has only seen paint and rim choice changes since 2018, and the last major facelift in 2015. The Chrysler 300 really dates back to 2004 when the first generation of Chrysler LX vehicles launched, and has remained on their fleet since. We go over why the Chrysler 300 is still being sold, and what we think FCA should do if they want to reinvent both this nameplate and their namesake brand at the same time.

On our full tour and review of this 2020 Chrysler 300 Limited AWD we go over some sales information for other LX platform vehicles including the Charger and Challenger, what parts were borrowed from Mercedes-Benz for those original LX vehicles, and how the Chrysler 300 did in 2019 for US car sales compared with the competition. We then discuss some ways this vehicle could have easily been modernized over the past years, and discuss a lot of the faults it has because it never got those updates.

We then take the 2020 Chrysler 300 Limited on a road test to talk about how this full-size sedan performs and handles on the road, including our thoughts on the 3.6L Pentastar V6, all-wheel drive, 8-speed automatic transmission, and the suspension. We also go over some of the ways the impending Groupe PSA & FCA merger could benefit the Chrysler vehicle lineup, and what we would suggest happen to this vehicle if were were in charge of development.

We wrap up with our final thoughts on this vehicle for those thinking of buying a 2020 Chrysler 300 new, or those thinking of getting one in the used market.
