2021 Kia Seltos EX Full Tour & Review

We had our first preview of the Kia Seltos back in the winter before the auto show season, now we're behind the wheel of their middle trim, the one Kia expects to be the most popular here in Canada.

We had a surprise visit from this 2021 Kia Seltos EX AWD this week as it showed up in our driveway. This subcompact crossover joins the plethora of other vehicles in this segment, some of which we've featured already. The EX is the middle trim here in Canada and comes well equipped for $27,595.00. It has LED daytime running lights, automatic halogen projector headlights, halogen fog lights, rear parking sensors and backup camera, 17" alloy rims, keyless entry with remote start, an 8" infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and HD Radio, leatherette seating, and a sunroof.

Our Canadian model also has heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. The Seltos is powered by a 2.0L Nu Atkinson-cycle 4 cylinder engine producing 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. That engine should be familiar as we've tested it before, but it's matted to Kia's Intelligent Variable Transmission with AWD. Ground clearance on the Seltos is 7.2" and has a very good approach angle should someone actually take this off-road.

We go over the rest of the exterior and interior design and features then take the 2021 Kia Seltos EX on a real-world road test to talk about how this subcompact crossover performs, handles, and drives on the road. We report our independent fuel economy testing along with our thoughts about the interior noise levels in-town and on the highway. How this vehicle performs when needing to get up to speed or to pass slower traffic, and how much interior space you get for the price and size.

We go over what real buyers want to know if they're in the market for a crossover like this.
