2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty Platinum with the Tremor Off-Road Package

The 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty gets a new off-road specific package in the form of the Tremor. Does it stack up to the RAM 2500 Power Wagon, and is it really the Super Duty version of the F-150 Raptor?

This week on TestDrive we're looking at the 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty, our first time looking at Ford's three quarter tonne pickup truck, and we've got a very well equipped model to do that in. This 2020 F-250 Super Duty comes with the Platinum trim, Tremor Off-Road package, 6.7L Power Stroke Turbo Diesel V8 engine, and this beautiful Blue Jeans paint job.

This Platinum also has the dark Marsala Kingsville antique affect leather interior, panoramic sunroof, and front and rear wheel well liners. The Tremor package is available on the F-250 and F-350, only with the CrewCab & 6.75" bed. Our full tour and review of this 2020 Ford F-250 Platinum goes over a lot of info about this heavy duty pickup truck, including differences with this over the F-150s we've featured several times on TestDrive over the years.

The F-250 Super Duty received a slight facelift for this model year along with the Tremor package, so we go over the exterior design and what you get with the Tremor including the skid plates, 2" lift kit, 35" off-road tires, Tremor decal, and upgraded suspension. The Tremor also adds the triple leaf-spring rear suspension from the F-350, ultimately giving buyers an F-350 experience in the F-250.

We take the Tremor on a road test to talk about how this Super Duty handles itself on the road, how the power delivery of the 6.7L Power Stroke turbo diesel V8 feels, and the 10-speed automatic transmission. Since we don't have an off-road course large enough to accommodate the size of this pickup truck we have to keep this review on the road, which is part of the reason why we aren't entirely sold on the $5,200 Tremor package.

While this vehicle is plenty capable and likely worth the price for those who truly enjoy off-roading with a huge truck like this, we found the ride quality over a standard F-250 was lost with this, and we feel the RAM 2500 Power Wagon offers a cooler looking truck with slightly better road manners. We also discuss our thoughts on this Tremor compared to Ford's other off-road oriented pickup, the F-150 Raptor. While the Tremor isn't necessarily meant to be a Raptor for the Super Duty line, we discuss some of the reasons why the Raptor is considered a seriously cool pickup truck for on and off-road enthusiasts, and why the Tremor might not get that same love.
